We’re proud to be the only Snake River rafting company still actively owned and operated by one of the original pioneers of Snake River Whitewater Rafting, Charlie Sands. We may be seasoned but we still feel like a brand new outfitter with our expanded line of rafts, our renovated facilities and our strong desire to keep things fresh and fun for each and every customer that comes through our doors. As one of the largest rafting companies in Jackson Hole, we’ve taken tens of thousands of people safely down the Snake River, including the President and Vice President of the United States! By making sure you enjoy every moment, we’ve become one of the most respected Snake River rafting companies in the entire valley.
With over 50 years of Snake River experience in Jackson Hole, we know that it all begins with our hard-working raft guides. They have floated, surfed and paddled the Snake River hundreds of times, which gives them a deep knowledge of every turn, rapid, and current. Of course, our boatmen aren’t the only ones with Snake River whitewater experience. Our entire staff is prepared to make sure your Snake River trip is safe and exhilarating. Whether this is your first time or your hundredth time on the river, we’ll give you a ride that you won’t forget!
About Charlie: With over 50 years in the valley, Charlie is a legend in his own right and all that meet him are sure to hear a few stories about his wild days during his early years in Jackson Hole. He started his career in the valley working on the ski patrol at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Charlie was there long enough to make a name for himself and have two runs named after him, the S&S couloir and Broadway Chuck. The story for S&S started when two friends, Charlie Sands and John Simms, were ski patrolling and decided to jump in. They survived the jump and the legend lives on and to this day, no one knows who went first.
After a few winters, the idea of a running tourist down the river turned into the real thing when Charlie and John started an operation in Grand Teton National Park. In the early 1980’s, Charlie got serious about rafting through the Snake River canyon. He realized the potential for the business and retired from ski patrol to invest all of his time into the whitewater business. From there, a whitewater rafting trip on the Snake River was a must during any vacation to Jackson Hole.
We’re proud of the fact that even after 50+ years, Charlie is still at the reins and making sure that every single person that comes through our doors, has a memorable adventure on the river. Whether you’re visiting us from halfway around the world, Wyoming or the oval office, we want you to have an epic time on the Snake River during your visit to Jackson Hole.
